You never used to hear too much about dogs getting cavities. That’s because dogs don’t normally eat the sugary sweets that cause dental caries. But, recently vets report an uptick in cavities in dogs – mainly because people are feeding them more human foods – and not all of them are healthy veggies or proteins.

We’ve written in the past about the importance of dental care for your pup. Adequate care keeps many issues at bay. But it’s also important not to feed your dog foods that are sticky or sweet as they may cause cavities. And their cavities have to be treated the same as humans, which as you know isn’t fun.

Just a little diligence will keep your pet from getting cavities – watch their diet, do regular brushing at home and have your vet check your pet’s teeth and do a formal cleaning whenever necessary.
